The data used in studies of degradable bone implants are organized in a dedicated SciCat instance. The instance hosts more than 3400 datasets created at the Petra III synchrotron in the time 2006 until 2022. Datasets are fully annotated and accompanied by a number of snapshots to give a quick impression about the data available (see below for a snapshot).

Ingestion of meta-data into the SciCat data catalog is handled by a set of python modules. The code is hosted on https://gitlab.desy.de/MDLMA/scicat, and currently not publicly available. Drop a note to HEREON staff if you’re interested to access the code.

SciCat Architecture

On the technical side: the SciCat data catalog is hosted on a number of kubernetes pods, with CEPH serving as the storage backend for a MongoDB triad to guarantee high availability and security of the data.
